AMIES media is a modification of Cary Blair media, which is at the same time a modification of Stuart media. Basically the glycerohoshate is relaced by an inorganic hoshate, and the methylene blue by harmacological charcoal. Calcium and magnesium are also added, thus maintaining the ermeability of the bacterial cell
