Vaginal Ring Pessary

The  Portia by Bray flexible PVC ring pessary  is prescribed to patients by a Healthcare Professional (HCP) for the treatment of symptomatic uterine prolapse  after consultation and a simple, painless internal procedure. In most cases the vaginal ring pessary will be fitted by a HCP. In some parts of the UK, where primary or secondary healthcare units have decided that such initiatives are appropriate, patients with sufficient mobility, strength and aptitude are encouraged by their prescribing doctor or specialist nurse to remove and replace the vaginal ring pessary by themselves. Self-management programs are conducted by medical professionals and operate under their supervision. Contraindications may include fitting discomfort, bleeding, ulceration, inflammation of the pelvis, infection such as vaginitis, patient non-compliance and delayed follow up.
